Non-Traditional Volunteer Opportunities:
Have a unique service to offer? A special talent? The generosity and help we receive, often in non-traditional venues, blesses us more than you can imagine! Below please find a list of our special needs. Contact gail@kidseverywear.com if you have an interest or ability to help in the areas listed below and we will do our best to make you an offer you can't refuse! 4 volunteer hours credit gives you Regular volunteer shopping privileges, 8 hours gives Super privileges, and 12 hours gives Super Duper privileges.

  • Corporate Sponsors: If you can arrange for your employer/company to sponsor Kids EveryWear, we will give you an early bird shopping pass! Email gail@kidseverywear.com for details!
  • bin
  • We need Rubbermaid Roughneck bins, 18 gal and 31 gal. Trade two 31 gal bins or four 18 gal bins for a 4 hour regular volunteer pass. If you are consigning, bring them to dropoff and Beth can give you an early shopping pass. If not, bring them at 5 pm on the volunteer shopping day as your pass to shop at that time. They are $12 each for 31 gal and $6 each for 18 gal at Lowes. Any color is fine. If you already own other types to donate, please just email email me and ask!
  • Large bags: Stores have generously donated these to the sale in the past. The large bag is approximately 22X12X36. Toys 'R Us, Lowes Home Improvement, Target, and Staples, Bed Bath and Beyond and Linens and Things are great places to ask for donations. You will receive 4 hours of credit for bringing a box of 500 new bags to the sale at the drop-off day or shopping day. Please no grocery sized bags!
  • Sterilite laundry hampers: see picture for the type needed-any color is ok but they must be this exact model which is 15 bushel in size, UPC # 073149124500. If you can get a store to donate these to us, you will receive 4 volunteer hours for every set of 10 hampers you are able to get donated and bring to the sale on drop-off day or your shopping time. You may email gail@kidseverywear.com for a letter with our logo if the store asks for one.
  • Meals: Do your friends and family consider you a fabulous cook? We need food for 4 adults for each day of the sale. You’ll get Super Volunteer credit (8 hours) for 1 day hot dinner and cold lunch for the next day, 12 hours super duper volunteer credit (you’d shop first) if you prepare and serve meals on 2 days. Please bring it with disposable plates, with 8 napkins (4 for dinner, 4 for lunch the next day) and 8 sets of throw-away utensils (4 for dinner, 4 for lunch the next day) and 4 cups of ice. We try to have drinks there to pour into the cup if you wouldn’t mind grabbing one from the fridge in the back for us too. Include veggies on the side–a salad is great and fresh fruit. We ask you to bring the dinner hot and serve it, and put a cold meal for lunch into the fridge in the back of each store with extra plates/napkins/utensils as needed for the lunch left in the back in a bag please. You will need a code to register online for the date(s) you are able to bring dinner and lunch for the next day. Please email gail@kidseverywear.com to ask for the code and tell me what you plan to bring so we don’t eat the same things night after night. 6 PM is a good delivery time.
  • Teachers: Print our handout and send it home to at least 100 kids' parents and you can shop at 6 pm during our regular volunteer sale. Just Email gail@kidseverywear.com to let me know which school/grade you teach in and that you distributed the handouts.
  • Graphics design, website design and programming, computer networking, 3000 double-sided black and white copies, mailing and mailing lists, corrugated signage, xyron, and poster-sized laminating are a few of the needs we sometimes have. Email gail@kidseverywear.com if one of these is something you can offer!
  • Want a Free Vendor Display?: We will offer one free display to someone willing to man our door in toys while covering your booth beside the door. See details on our Sponsors page.
  • Computers: We need new-ish computers and monitors- no dinosaurs - and will exchange for volunteer hours. Email gail@kidseverywear.com with details about yours, including the processor type and speed, the RAM, the hard drive and the licenses it comes with. Laptops preferred. Drop-off at our set-up time (see Calendar page).
  • Cooperative Advertising: If you have a website or publication and allow Kids EveryWear to place a banner ad on your site or print ad in your publication, we will allow you to place an ad on our site for free or will exchange for volunteer hours.
  • Access to Interstate Fence Line: If you own rural property on any of the major highways or interstates coming into the Triangle area and are willing to allow us to hang a light, all-weather corrugated sign on your fence line (they just zip-tie on) for a couple of months in the spring and the same in the fall, you'll earn a four volunteer hours per event.
  • Sorting at end of the sale: If you can organize a group of students who might need community service hours to come and sort unsold clothing items on Saturday, from 10 am till 2 pm, then you will earn hours toward volunteer pre-sale privileges. We are always happy to sign any volunteer paperwork for the service hours completed at our event.
  • Poster to Churches/Schools/Etc: Print our Advertising Poster or 2 per page Handout and distribute it to 100 people. Email me with details of who received it and you will be able to shop at 6 pm on Saturday after the Regular Volunteers have begun shopping. Daycares are handled separately, so cannot be included. Anywhere NOT listed on this Daycare Chart would be great!
  • Flyer Copying and Delivery to Day Cares: Print our 2 per page Handout and distribute it to 10 daycares. Use the chart to choose the daycares nearest you, call them to confirm that they have not received handouts/will be willing to give them to parents if you deliver to them/confirm their address and the # of kids they have, i.e. copies you will need to deliver to them. Also ask for the email address of the daycare so that we can thank them with an early shopping pass. Click here to view the chart of daycares and a map for each zip code. Email gail@kidseverywear.com with the group you have delivered to/any changes in their information/and the # of kids at each/and the daycares' email addresses and you will receive a password to register for 4 volunteer hours.
  • Is Your Child in a Local Daycare? Ask the daycare if you can deliver a flyer per child to be given to the parents. Get a count of children/# of handouts needed from them. Also ask for the email address of the daycare so that we can thank them with an early shopping pass. Click here to view the Daycare Chart. Email gail@kidseverywear.com with the daycare you have delivered to/any changes in their information from the chart/their email address/and the # of kids and you will receive an email pass to shop at 6 pm on Saturday after the Regular Volunteers have begun shopping.
  • TV/Radio coverage: Do you know someone who reports at one of the major news or radio stations and can get us interviewed or on TV? This will earn you eight presale hours.
  • Magazine/Newspaper coverage: Do you know someone who reports/writes for an area or regional magazine or newspaper and can get us some editorial coverage for our event? If so, this earns you eight pre-sale hours.
  • Infant & Children's Nurses/Office Staff: If you work at a hospital, doctor or dentist's office (or any other type of office for that matter) that caters to infants and children, you have the opportunity to earn pre-sale passes by posting our poster and handing out referral cards.
  • Gift Certificates: Help us defer consumable sale supply costs by providing us with a $25 gift certificate to Wal-Mart, Office Max, Staples or Target and earn four pre-sale hours and shop with our Regular Volunteers. Email to let us know. Or just bring it to your shopping time. It can be your "pass" to shop. Please use a Sharpie permanent marker to write the amount of the card on it, as well as your name and your phone number.
